THUG ANGEL, Rebirth of a gargoyle set to change the face of Streetlit and Black Scifi with its new approach to werewolves and vampires!

Florida June 2013 Jeff Carroll announces the release of the streetlit vampire and werewolf story Thug Angel Rebirth of a gargoyle.  Thug Angel is a science fiction, horror story set in the same streets walked by drug dealers and fast women. Published through his company Hip Hop Comix N Flix Thug Angel Rebirth of a gargoyle will be available everywhere in the fall of 2012.

Amidst the darkest demons there are heroes/forces/beings, which speak the same language of violence, and terror that the demons do.  These are the guardians who protect us.  We call them angels but to the vampires and werewolves they are just other thugs.

THUG ANGEL Rebirth of a gargoyle (Hip Hop Comix N Flix Publishing Paperback, June 19, 2013, ISBN: 978-0-9820087-3-7$15.00) set to change the face of Streetlit and Black Scifi by author Jeff Carroll. Jeff Carroll a lover of Scifi films and action stories sort to bring his two loves together in his second novel.  It was when he novelized his award winning movie Gold Digger Killer and it was classified as a streetlit story he then realized the lack of diversity in the streetlit genre.  The goal he set for himself was to write a story in a universe like the movie Underworld with the energy of the movie Training Day.  By accomplishing this mixture he hopes to bring the two worlds of streetlit and Scifi together.

Thug Angel Rebirth of a gargoyle tells the story of Maurice Keita a thousand year old gargoyle who is peacefully raising his daughter but when werewolves attempt to stake claim to his turf they find out he is the wrong immortal to mess with. Since becoming a father sitting in the shadows perched on the top of a buildings just couldn’t do it for him anymore.  Gargoyles have been protecting human souls since long before the pyramids were built.  Their battles have been fought in underworld environments where humans are not aware of.  Maurice could contain his battles to shadows of humans when he was just protecting random people but when his daughter gets mixed up with a gang of vampire his fury will not be limited. For years vampires only fought hunters wielding wooden stakes and werewolves fought off silver bullets now they will have to fight someone who will go full out gangster on them.  A gargoyle who is tough enough to match their evil.  Someone who will kill their human helpers just to get to them.  Another immortal who is not scared of them, a Thug Angel.  The devil has a new enemy and it is Maurice Keita!

Yo Jeff launches a literary assault on Hip Hop with the release of GOLD DIGGER KILLER the novel!

Florida 2012 Jeff Carroll announces the release of his first novel Gold Digger Killer. Gold Digger Killer is story which so accurately showcases the drama of street relationships that lead to him becoming Hip Hop’s first dating coach. Published through his company Hip Hop Comix N Flix Gold Digger Killer a novelization on sell at bookfairs and conic book conventions now and will be available everywhere in the fall of 2012.

Yo Jeff hailed as the “Anti-Playa” by the Sun Senintal and a relationship guru by Chuck D now he’s put pen to paper by writing his classic Hip Hop film into a book. “It’s been over eight years since I wrote Gold Digger Killer and I am a much better writer now. Screening my film around the world gave me the opportunity to see the hot parts to supersize in the book,” said Yo Jeff. Gold Digger Killer the movie won 3 film awards, over 11 film festivals in both England and Africa as a horror film. Gold Digger Killer the novel is even more explosive and it explores aspects of the character that could not be done within the limits of a $10,000 film budget. This novelization mixes horror and fantasy in a way that exceeds the narrow thug glorifying confines of Hip Hop literature. This book is set to change Streetlit forever with it’s bold stance.

Gold Digger Killer is the first of a series of stories about Imani Flowers. Just as the screenwriter’s strike hit in 2008 Jeff was negotiating the sequel. This first book includes a 50 page comic which follows the events in the book.

Gold Digger Killer is the story of Imani Flowers a college student who is just a regular member of this Hip Hop generation. She is a hard working girl who struggles to find a man who can match her drive. Her current boyfriend is happy in mediocrity and has no problem living in the college dorms. Listening to her friends who say things like “life doesn’t wait for no one and life it too short to have to motivate a man.” So after encouragement from her friends who both have men that buy them expensive things and support them she ditches her college man and finds a man who already has money. However, Imani quickly learns that her independence is not in sync with the submissive etiquette of a cared for woman and when her Sugar Daddy feels he is being played she becomes a victim of rape. Imani breaks down and gets mad at the whole sub-culture of Hip Hop for encouraging men to play women. She then decides to seek revenge on the whole misogynistic Hip Hop sub-culture and becomes the notorious Gold Digger Killer.

My top ten for two thousand and ten 2010

Since I am a filmmaker and I go to the movies 3 times a month I offermy top ten for two thousand and ten 2010 .

Kickass. The best Nicholas Cage film ever. Go comic book stories.
Predators. I can’t wait for the sequel.
Repo Men. This is scifi the way I like it. Action and prediction.
Iron Man 2. Good story and good action. I don’t need to see part 3.
Why did I get married. Go Tyler. My girl Tasha Smith may not do it in other films but she owns this series.
Takers. A good Black action film from some good come up indy filmmakers. Makes me want to make another film.
Crazies. I love Zombies in a good story.
The Book of Eli. May not have loved the ending but the put the Bible in a good place on the shelf next to the Quran. I Black man made it through the Apocalypse. Next we go to space!
Unstoppable. Denzel is the Gotdamn best. Who else could make a movie about a speeding train enjoyable.
Salt. I like this film to encourage more action films for women. This was real action not like Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Brooklyn’s finest. I love the cast. Glad they stopped with one twist at the end and not as many as the Departed.
Shriek forever after. Go Eddie. They can’t out do the first but this is pretty damn close.
Wolfman. I like this film because I’m tired of vampires getting so much attention. Werewolfs aren’t big dogs. Curse you True Blood and Twilight.
Edge of Darkness. Mel Gibson is a good actor in my book. This is a good film. I need to talk to him about all of the racist comments.
Let me in. Who is this full lip little girl Chloe Moretz. I like her. I just hope she doesn’t do some sexy type picture. Stay away perverts of Hollywood.

Honorable mentions in no particular order.
Machete. I wish I would have seen this in the theater to enjoy the audience reactions.

Daybreakers Good new breath in the vampire genre but the ending was wack. I would have loved to see more fight hungry vampires.

Sex in the City 2. I enjoyed this movie with my wife. Props to Kristen Davis for showing some skin in Couple retreat. If she would have doe that in Sex in the City 2 I would have had in my top ten. Lol.

Harry Potter and the deathly hollows part 1. I’m not a Harry Potter fan but I’m glad the wizard is still entertaining his fans. Maybe I get into the Potter films later in life.

Lottery Ticket. I like Brandon Jackson and I’m glad they are making black comedies without being slapstick buffoonery.

Faster. Man what happen to my man The Rock. This film was good but he was too buff for no reason. We never got to see him use his muscle.

For Colored Girls. I felt this was a very important movie and I wrote a entire blog about it. Go Tyler Perry glad his able to make serious films. I would have love to see a documentary about the play and film with men involved in the discussion. I don’t even think Oprah hosted a discussion on the subject.

Splice. I almost forgot this film came out deliberately. This is the most disturbing film I’ve seen in a long time. The sad thing is I took my (7yr old) son and my nephew (10) and niece (8) joined us. I’m mad at myself for supporting it but we (Americans) asked for a film like this. Always wanting filmmakers to push the envelope well Splice is my limit. Borderline porn and nasty erotica. Never again. But scifi none the less.

Movie that owe me my money back
The Last Airbender. If I ever run into M Knight Shyamalan I think I might have to be pulled away. That is my favorite cartoon. WTF!
Skyline. I will still trust my judgment of trailers even thought this piece of celluloid garbage got my money. I’m so happy I went to see Unstoppable two weeks later. When the aliens do come to Earth they will kick the asses of these filmmakers.
